Ingredients
Scale
Crostini
- 1 French baguette, sliced into 1/2-inch rounds
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Whipped Feta
- 6 oz feta cheese, crumbled
- 3 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon lemon zest
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Hot Honey
- 1/3 cup honey
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
Garnish (optional)
- Fresh thyme
- Chopped pistachios
Instructions
- Prepare the Crostini: Preheat the oven to 375°F. Arrange the baguette slices on a baking sheet and brush lightly with olive oil on both sides. Bake for 10–12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the slices are golden and crisp. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly.
- Make the Whipped Feta: In a food processor, combine crumbled feta, softened cream cheese, lemon juice, lemon zest, and black pepper. Blend until the mixture is smooth and creamy, scraping down the sides as necessary to ensure even blending.
- Prepare the Hot Honey: In a small saucepan, gently warm the honey with red pepper flakes over low heat for 2–3 minutes. Remove from heat and allow the mixture to steep for an additional 5 minutes to infuse the flavors. Strain the honey if you prefer a smoother texture.
- Assemble the Crostini: Spread a generous spoonful of the whipped feta onto each crostini. Drizzle with the prepared hot honey just before serving. Garnish with fresh thyme leaves or chopped pistachios if desired for an added burst of flavor and texture.
Notes
- The whipped feta can be made up to 3 days in advance and stored in the refrigerator.
- Hot honey can also be prepared ahead and stored at room temperature.
- For an elevated twist, consider adding roasted grapes, figs, or a slice of prosciutto on top of the crostini.
