Description

A fun, layered banana pudding that’s easy to assemble and perfect for parties—creamy pudding, ripe bananas, and crunchy wafers stacked to walk through the crowd!

Ingredients

  • 4 cups vanilla pudding (homemade or from 2 (3.4 oz) instant pudding mixes + 3½ cups milk)
  • 45 ripe bananas, sliced
  • 1 (12 oz) box vanilla wafer cookies
  • 2 cups whipped cream (or whipped topping)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Optional: fresh banana slices and crushed wafers for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together vanilla pudding and vanilla extract until smooth.
  2. Fold in 1 cup of whipped cream gently.
  3. Slice bananas into 1/4‑inch rounds.
  4. In a trifle bowl or clear dish, layer a third of vanilla wafers on bottom.
  5. Top wafers with a layer of banana slices.
  6. Spread a layer of pudding mixture over bananas.
  7. Repeat layers twice (wafers, bananas, pudding) ending with pudding layer.
  8. Spread remaining whipped cream on top.
  9. Chill for at least 2 hours (or overnight) to set and let flavors meld.
  10. Before serving, garnish with fresh banana slices and crushed wafers along top edges.

Notes

  • Use slightly underripe bananas—they hold shape better and won’t brown quickly.
  • For extra creaminess, substitute 1 cup pudding mixture with mascarpone or cream cheese blend.
  • To prep ahead, assemble the day before and garnish just before serving.
  • Leftovers keep in fridge, covered, up to 3 days.
