Ingredients
Scale
Slider Ingredients
- 12 count Hawaiian sweet dinner rolls
- 12 slices Muenster cheese
- 1 pound deli turkey
- 1/2 cup mayo
Butter Glaze
- 7 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted and slightly cooled)
- 1 tablespoon Dijon-style mustard
- 1 1/2 teaspoons dried minced onion
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- Poppy seeds (to sprinkle on top)
Instructions
- Prepare: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Generously grease a 9×13-inch baking pan and line it with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
- Melt Butter: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the unsalted butter and let it cool slightly. Whisk in Dijon mustard, dried minced onion, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper until well combined to create a flavorful butter glaze.
- Make Mayo Spread: Using a serrated bread knife, carefully slice the entire block of Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally, keeping the individual rolls attached so they remain as one slab.
- Assemble Base: Spread 1/4 cup of mayonnaise evenly over both cut sides of the rolls. Place the bottom half of the rolls in the prepared baking pan as the base layer.
- Layer Fillings: On the bottom half, layer six slices of Muenster cheese evenly, followed by the entire pound of deli turkey, then the remaining six slices of cheese on top of the turkey. Do not place the top half of the rolls yet.
- Initial Bake: Bake the open-faced sliders uncovered for 10 minutes in the preheated oven to allow the cheese to start melting.
- Add Top Layer: Remove the pan from the oven and carefully place the top half of the rolls onto the sliders to close the sandwiches.
- Apply Butter Glaze: Generously pour and brush the prepared butter glaze over the top and sides of the rolls. It’s okay if some of the butter pools at the bottom of the pan, as this will create a deliciously buttery and crispy base for the sliders.
- Cover and Bake: Cover the pan tightly with foil and bake for 20 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and the rolls to soften.
- Finish Baking: Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes uncovered, or until the tops are golden brown and the cheese is fully melted and bubbly.
- Serve: Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, then cut into individual sliders and serve hot for maximum enjoyment.
Notes
- Using Hawaiian rolls gives these sliders a soft, sweet contrast to the savory fillings.
- Keeping the rolls attached during slicing ensures even assembly and baking.
- The butter glaze both flavors and crisps the rolls for a perfect texture.
- These sliders can be prepared a few hours ahead and reheated covered in the oven.
- Serve with pickles, coleslaw, or your favorite side dish for a complete meal.
