Description

Tricia’s Fantastic Fudge Pie is a rich and decadent chocolate dessert featuring a buttery pie crust filled with a smooth, fudgy chocolate filling. Perfectly baked to have a slightly soft center with a firm top, this pie is an irresistible treat for chocolate lovers and an ideal dessert for special occasions or cozy nights in.

Ingredients

Scale

Pie Crust

  • 1 pre-made 9-inch pie crust (or homemade pie crust)

Fudge Pie Filling

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional for added richness)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the pie crust in a 9-inch pie dish and set aside to get ready for filling.
  2. Make the Fudge Pie Filling: In a medium bowl, whisk together the melted butter, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, and salt until the mixture is smooth and even. Next, add the eggs and vanilla extract, whisking thoroughly until fully combined. Gradually stir in the all-purpose flour until the batter is smooth and well-mixed. If you choose to use chocolate chips, gently fold them into the batter now.
  3. Pour into the Pie Crust: Pour the prepared fudge pie batter into the pie crust, making sure to spread it out evenly for uniform baking.
  4. Bake the Pie: Place the pie in the oven and bake for 35-40 minutes. The pie is done when the center is set but still slightly soft, and the top appears firm. Check doneness by inserting a toothpick into the center; it should come out with a few moist crumbs, not wet batter. Remember that the pie will continue to set as it cools.
  5. Cool and Serve: Let the fudge pie cool completely before slicing to ensure clean cuts and the best texture. For an extra decadent treat, serve with whipped cream, a scoop of vanilla ice cream, or fresh berries on the side.

Notes

  • Ensure the eggs are at room temperature for smoother batter and better mixing.
  • Using a homemade pie crust can enhance flavor, but store-bought crusts are a great time saver.
  • Check your pie around 35 minutes to prevent overbaking; oven temperatures may vary.
  • The optional chocolate chips add extra richness but can be omitted if preferred.
  • Allow the pie to cool fully at room temperature for the best texture; refrigeration is optional but can help firm it up quickly.
  • Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
