Description

A classic Midwestern comfort food, Tater Tot Hotdish is a warm, hearty casserole made with ground beef, creamy soup, vegetables, and crispy tater tots on top. It’s perfect for busy weeknights or a cozy family dinner.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef

  • 1 small onion, diced

  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup

  • 1 cup frozen mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, corn)

  • 1/2 cup milk

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • 3 cups frozen tater tots

 

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)


Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and diced onion until beef is browned. Drain excess grease.

  • Stir in cream of mushroom soup, milk, frozen vegetables, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.

  • Pour mixture into a 9×13-inch baking dish and spread evenly.

  • Arrange tater tots in a single layer on top of the beef mixture.

  • Bake uncovered for 35–40 minutes, or until tater tots are golden and crispy.

  • If using cheese, sprinkle on top during the last 5 minutes of baking.

 

  • Let cool for a few minutes before serving.


Notes

  • You can swap cream of mushroom soup for cream of chicken or cheddar cheese soup.

  • Add a dash of garlic powder or Worcestershire sauce for extra flavor.

 

  • Great for meal prep—leftovers reheat well!
