Description

A sweet and tangy homemade strawberry jam made with fresh strawberries and minimal ingredients. Perfect for spreading on toast, adding to desserts, or gifting.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 pounds fresh strawberries, hulled
  • 4 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice (freshly squeezed)

Instructions

  1. Wash, hull, and halve the strawberries.
  2. In a large bowl, combine strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice. Let sit for 30 minutes to macerate.
  3. Transfer the mixture to a large saucepan and bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring frequently.
  4. Reduce heat and simmer for 20–30 minutes, stirring often and skimming foam if needed, until mixture thickens.
  5. Test for doneness by placing a small amount on a cold plate; if it wrinkles when pushed, it’s ready.
  6. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  7. Transfer jam to sterilized jars and seal. Refrigerate or process in a water bath for long-term storage.

Notes

  • You can mash the strawberries for a smoother texture or leave chunks for a rustic finish.
  • Store in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks or process jars to store for up to a year.
  • Adjust sugar to taste or use pectin if reducing sugar significantly.
