Description

Shrimp Scampi is a classic Italian-American dish made with tender shrimp sautéed in a garlic butter and white wine sauce, served over pasta for a delicious and elegant meal.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 8 oz linguine or spaghetti
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • Grated Parmesan cheese for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook pasta according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil and 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat.
  3. Add garlic and red pepper flakes, sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Add shrimp, season with salt and pepper, and cook for 2–3 minutes on each side until pink and opaque. Remove shrimp and set aside.
  5. Pour in white wine and lemon juice, scraping up any bits from the pan. Simmer for 2–3 minutes to reduce slightly.
  6. Return shrimp to the skillet and stir in remaining 1 tablespoon of butter.
  7. Add cooked pasta and toss to coat in the sauce.
  8. Garnish with fresh parsley and grated Parmesan if desired.
  9. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use chicken broth instead of white wine for a non-alcoholic version.
  • Add extra lemon juice or zest for a brighter flavor.
  • Adjust red pepper flakes to control the heat level.
