Description

A nostalgic and delicious rectangular school cafeteria-style pizza with a soft crust, tangy sauce, and cheesy topping.


Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups warm water (110°F)
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup pizza sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • Optional: pepperoni slices or cooked sausage

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add salt, olive oil, and flour. Mix until a dough forms, then knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  3. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  4. Preheat oven to 475°F (245°C). Grease a 13×18 inch sheet pan.
  5. Roll out the dough and press it evenly into the prepared pan.
  6. Spread pizza sauce over the dough, sprinkle garlic powder and oregano, then top with mozzarella and cheddar cheese. Add any optional toppings.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
  8. Remove from oven, let cool slightly, then slice into rectangles and serve.

Notes

  • For a crispier crust, pre-bake the dough for 5 minutes before adding toppings.
  • Use parchment paper for easier cleanup and removal.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven or toaster oven.
