Ingredients
-
1 pound breakfast sausage (pork or turkey)
-
6 large eggs
-
2 cups whole milk
-
1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
-
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
-
6 cups cubed day-old bread (French or sourdough works great)
-
1 teaspoon garlic powder
-
1 teaspoon onion powder
-
1/2 teaspoon salt
-
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
-
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (optional for garnish)
-
Nonstick cooking spray or butter (for greasing the dish)
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter.
-
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned and fully cooked, breaking it into crumbles. Drain excess grease and set aside.
-
In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
-
Add the cubed bread to the bowl and gently mix to coat the bread.
-
Stir in the cooked sausage, cheddar, and mozzarella cheese.
-
Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
-
Bake uncovered for 40–45 minutes, or until the center is set and the top is golden brown.
-
Let it rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
