Description
A quick and healthy side dish of sautéed mushrooms and broccoli, flavored with garlic and soy sauce. Perfect for weeknight dinners or as a vegetable accompaniment.
Ingredients
- 2 cups broccoli florets
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil (optional)
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups sliced mushrooms (cremini or button)
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 tablespoon water (if needed)
Instructions
- Steam or blanch broccoli florets for 2-3 minutes until bright green and slightly tender. Drain and set aside.
- Heat olive oil and sesame oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add sliced mushrooms and cook for 4-5 minutes until they release moisture and start to brown.
- Stir in the broccoli, soy sauce, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.
- Cook everything together for another 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add a tablespoon of water if the pan becomes too dry.
- Remove from heat and serve warm.
Notes
- You can substitute tamari for soy sauce for a gluten-free option.
- Use a mix of mushrooms for more flavor depth.
- Add a splash of lemon juice for brightness before serving.
