Ingredients
Scale
Eggs
- 5 eggs
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons beaten egg (from the 5 eggs, reserved for brushing)
Dough
- 1 can (8 oz) Pillsbury™ refrigerated crescent dinner rolls
Fillings
- 8 sausage links, cooked
- 4 slices cheddar cheese, cut in half
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure it reaches the right temperature for baking your roll-ups evenly.
- Prepare the Eggs: In a small bowl, beat all 5 eggs, reserving about 2 tablespoons of the beaten eggs for brushing the dough later. Scramble the remaining eggs in a skillet over medium heat until fully cooked. Season with salt and pepper to taste, then set aside.
- Prepare the Crescent Rolls: Unroll the crescent roll dough onto a clean work surface and separate it into 8 individual triangles ready for filling.
- Add the Fillings: Place half a slice of cheddar cheese on each crescent triangle. Spoon some of the scrambled eggs on top of the cheese, then add one cooked sausage link over the eggs.
- Roll Them Up: Starting at the wide end of each triangle, loosely roll the dough over the sausage, eggs, and cheese, tucking in the ends if needed to keep the fillings secure.
- Brush and Season: Place the rolled-up crescents onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Brush the top of each roll-up with the reserved beaten egg and sprinkle lightly with salt and pepper to enhance flavor and create a golden crust.
- Bake: Bake the roll-ups in the preheated oven for 15 to 18 minutes or until the crescent rolls are golden brown and fully cooked through.
- Serve: Allow the breakfast roll-ups to cool slightly after baking, then serve them warm to enjoy a delicious and hearty breakfast treat.
Notes
- Use fully cooked sausage links to save time and ensure safety.
- Feel free to substitute cheddar cheese with your preferred cheese type.
- For added flavor, sprinkle some herbs like chopped chives or parsley inside before rolling.
- These roll-ups can be made ahead and reheated gently in the oven or microwave.
- Check the crescent rolls occasionally during baking to avoid over-browning.
