Description

Rose Lassi is a refreshing, traditional Indian yogurt-based drink infused with the sweet and floral flavors of rose syrup. This smooth and frothy beverage, perfect for hot summer days, combines creamy yogurt with rose syrup and a touch of sugar, blended to a delightful consistency. Served chilled and garnished with dried rose petals, pistachios, or cardamom, it offers a unique and cooling taste experience.

Ingredients

Scale

Base Ingredients

  • 1 cup plain yogurt (preferably full-fat or Greek-style)
  • 1/2 cup cold water or milk (for thinner consistency)
  • 2 tablespoons rose syrup (like Rooh Afza)
  • 1–2 teaspoons sugar (optional, to taste)
  • A few ice cubes

Optional Garnish

  • Dried rose petals
  • Chopped pistachios
  • A sprinkle of cardamom powder

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: In a blender, add the plain yogurt, cold water or milk, rose syrup, and sugar if using. This combination forms the creamy and floral base of the lassi.
  2. Blend Until Smooth: Blend the mixture until it becomes smooth and frothy, ensuring all flavors are well incorporated and the texture is light and airy.
  3. Add Ice: Add a few ice cubes to the blender and blend briefly once more. Alternatively, you can pour the blended lassi over ice cubes in serving glasses to keep it cold.
  4. Adjust Sweetness: Taste the lassi and adjust the sweetness by adding more sugar if desired. Blend again briefly if additional sugar is added.
  5. Serve and Garnish: Pour the chilled lassi into glasses. Garnish with dried rose petals, chopped pistachios, or a light dusting of cardamom powder to enhance the aroma and presentation.

Notes

  • For a vegan version, substitute dairy yogurt with plant-based yogurt such as almond or coconut yogurt, and use almond or coconut milk instead of dairy milk.
  • Chill all ingredients beforehand to make the drink even more refreshing on hot days.
  • Rose syrup like Rooh Afza is typically sweetened, so taste before adding extra sugar.
  • This drink is best served fresh but can be refrigerated for up to 4 hours.
