Description

A hearty and cheesy casserole that combines the flavors of pizza and pasta into one family-friendly dish, perfect for busy weeknights.


Ingredients

  • 12 oz rotini pasta
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups marinara or pizza sauce
  • 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 cup sliced pepperoni
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp olive oil


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook pasta according to package directions; drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onion and garlic, cook until softened.
  4. Add ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
  5. Stir in marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  6. Add cooked pasta to the meat sauce and mix well.
  7. Pour half of the mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish. Sprinkle with 1 cup mozzarella and half the pepperoni.
  8. Add remaining pasta mixture, top with remaining mozzarella, Parmesan cheese, and pepperoni.
  9. Bake uncovered for 25-30 minutes, until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  10. Let stand 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground turkey or sausage for ground beef.
  • Add veggies like bell peppers or mushrooms for extra nutrition.
  • This dish freezes well. Cool completely before freezing.
