A hearty and cheesy casserole that combines the flavors of pizza and pasta into one family-friendly dish, perfect for busy weeknights.
Ingredients
- 12 oz rotini pasta
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups marinara or pizza sauce
- 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 cup sliced pepperoni
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook pasta according to package directions; drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onion and garlic, cook until softened.
- Add ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
- Add cooked pasta to the meat sauce and mix well.
- Pour half of the mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish. Sprinkle with 1 cup mozzarella and half the pepperoni.
- Add remaining pasta mixture, top with remaining mozzarella, Parmesan cheese, and pepperoni.
- Bake uncovered for 25-30 minutes, until cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let stand 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
- You can substitute ground turkey or sausage for ground beef.
- Add veggies like bell peppers or mushrooms for extra nutrition.
- This dish freezes well. Cool completely before freezing.
