1 cup buttermilk

Vegetable oil for frying (about 4 cups)
Instructions

In a large bowl, whisk together flour, salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, thyme, and oregano.

In a separate bowl, beat the egg and mix it with the buttermilk.

Dip each piece of chicken into the buttermilk mixture, allowing any excess to drip off, then coat it generously with the seasoned flour mixture. Press down lightly to ensure the coating sticks.

Set the coated chicken on a wire rack or plate and let it rest for about 10 minutes while the oil heats up.

Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large heavy skillet over medium-high heat (around 350°F/175°C).
