- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 4 slices Swiss cheese
- 4 slices ham
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 egg, beaten
- 3/4 cup breadcrumbs
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- Toothpicks or kitchen twine
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking dish.
- Place each chicken breast between two pieces of plastic wrap and pound until about 1/4 inch thick.
- Place a slice of ham and a slice of Swiss cheese on each breast. Roll up tightly and secure with toothpicks or kitchen twine.
- Combine flour, salt, and pepper in a shallow dish. Dredge each chicken roll in the flour mixture.
- Dip in beaten egg, then coat with breadcrumbs.
- Place chicken rolls in the prepared baking dish and drizzle with melted butter.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes or until chicken is cooked through and golden brown.
- Let rest for 5 minutes before serving. Remove toothpicks or twine before serving.
Notes
- Use toothpicks to keep the roll tightly closed while baking.
- Substitute mozzarella or provolone for Swiss cheese if desired.
- Panko breadcrumbs can be used for extra crunch.
