Description

Perfect Chicken Cordon Bleu is a classic dish made by stuffing chicken breasts with ham and Swiss cheese, then breaded and baked to golden perfection for a delicious, crispy, and creamy meal.

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese
  • 4 slices ham
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 3/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • Toothpicks or kitchen twine

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. Place each chicken breast between two pieces of plastic wrap and pound until about 1/4 inch thick.
  3. Place a slice of ham and a slice of Swiss cheese on each breast. Roll up tightly and secure with toothpicks or kitchen twine.
  4. Combine flour, salt, and pepper in a shallow dish. Dredge each chicken roll in the flour mixture.
  5. Dip in beaten egg, then coat with breadcrumbs.
  6. Place chicken rolls in the prepared baking dish and drizzle with melted butter.
  7. Bake for 30–35 minutes or until chicken is cooked through and golden brown.
  8. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving. Remove toothpicks or twine before serving.

Notes

  • Use toothpicks to keep the roll tightly closed while baking.
  • Substitute mozzarella or provolone for Swiss cheese if desired.
  • Panko breadcrumbs can be used for extra crunch.
