Description

This refreshing Peach Sweet Tea is a classic Southern favorite, combining the rich flavor of black tea with the natural sweetness and aroma of ripe peaches. Perfectly sweetened and chilled, it makes an ideal beverage to enjoy on warm summer days.

Ingredients

Scale

Tea Ingredients

  • 4 black tea bags
  • 6 cups water, divided
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice (optional)

Peach Ingredients

  • 3–4 ripe peaches, sliced

Garnish

  • Fresh mint (optional)
  • Peach slices (optional)

Instructions

  1. Simmer the Peaches: In a medium saucepan, combine 3 cups of water and the sliced peaches. Bring to a simmer over medium heat and cook for 10–12 minutes, gently mashing the peaches as they soften to release their flavor.
  2. Strain Peach Mixture: Strain the peach mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a heatproof bowl or pitcher, pressing to extract as much juice as possible. Discard the peach solids.
  3. Prepare the Tea: While the peaches are cooking, bring the remaining 3 cups of water to a boil. Remove from heat and add the black tea bags. Steep for 5–7 minutes, then remove and discard the tea bags.
  4. Sweeten the Tea: While the tea is still warm, stir in the granulated sugar until fully dissolved.
  5. Combine Tea and Peach Juice: Mix the strained peach juice with the sweetened tea. If desired, stir in lemon juice for a touch of brightness.
  6. Chill and Serve: Refrigerate the combined tea and peach mixture until cold, about 2 hours. Serve over ice, garnished with fresh mint and peach slices if desired.

Notes

  • For a stronger tea flavor, steep tea bags longer or use additional tea bags.
  • You can substitute frozen peaches when fresh ones are not in season.
  • Adjust sugar quantity to your preferred sweetness level.
  • Lemon juice is optional but adds a nice brightness to the tea.
