Panda Express String Bean Chicken is a delicious stir-fry dish featuring tender chicken breast, crisp string beans, and onions in a savory garlic ginger soy sauce.
Ingredients
- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breast, sliced thinly
- 2 cups string beans, trimmed
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon white pepper
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons water (for slurry)
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, sugar, and white pepper to create the sauce.
- In another bowl, make a cornstarch slurry by mixing cornstarch with water and set aside.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the sliced chicken and stir-fry until it’s browned and nearly cooked through. Remove and set aside.
- Add the remaining oil to the pan, then sauté garlic and ginger until fragrant.
- Add the string beans and onion, stir-frying for 3-4 minutes until they are slightly tender but still crisp.
- Return the chicken to the pan and pour in the sauce. Stir to coat evenly.
- Add the cornstarch slurry and stir until the sauce thickens.
- Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes, ensuring everything is well combined and heated through.
- Serve hot with steamed rice.
Notes
- For extra flavor, marinate the chicken in a bit of soy sauce and cornstarch before cooking.
- Fresh string beans give the best texture but frozen can be used in a pinch.
- You can substitute chicken thigh for a juicier alternative.
