Description

A delicious copycat recipe of Panda Express’ Mushroom Chicken featuring tender chicken, fresh mushrooms, and a savory sauce.


Ingredients

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons water


Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix the chicken broth, soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, cornstarch, and water. Set aside.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the chicken slices and cook until golden and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the chicken from the pan and set aside.
  4. In the same pan, add sesame oil, garlic, and ginger. Stir-fry for 1 minute until fragrant.
  5. Add the sliced mushrooms and cook until tender, about 3-4 minutes.
  6. Return the chicken to the pan, then pour in the prepared sauce mixture. Stir to combine and coat the chicken and mushrooms evenly.
  7. Let the sauce simmer for 2-3 minutes until thickened.
  8. Serve hot with steamed rice or noodles. Enjoy!

Notes

  • You can adjust the sauce consistency by adding more water if needed.
  • If you like more spice, you can add red pepper flakes or a dash of hot sauce to the sauce mixture.
  • For a richer flavor, try using a combination of shiitake and button mushrooms.
