Juicy and flavorful turkey breast roasted to golden perfection in the oven—an ideal centerpiece for holidays or family dinners.
Ingredients
- 1 (4–5 lb) bone‑in turkey breast
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- ½ tsp dried rosemary
- ½ tsp paprika
- 2 sprigs fresh rosemary (optional)
- 2 sprigs fresh thyme (optional)
- ¼ cup chicken broth or water
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Pat the turkey breast dry with paper towels.
- Rub the olive oil all over the turkey breast.
- In a small bowl, combine salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, dried thyme, dried rosemary, and paprika; rub evenly over the turkey.
- Place turkey breast on a rack in a roasting pan. Tuck fresh rosemary and thyme around the breast if using.
- Pour chicken broth or water into the bottom of the pan to keep meat moist.
- Roast in preheated oven for about 20 minutes per pound, or until internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) in the thickest part.
- About halfway through baking, baste turkey with pan juices.
- Once done, remove turkey from oven, tent with foil, and rest for 15 minutes before slicing.
Notes
- Use a meat thermometer for best results.
- Letting it rest ensures juiciness.
- You can substitute fresh herbs for dried for a brighter flavor.
- Pan drippings are great for gravy.
