Description

These BBQ pork ribs are fall-off-the-bone tender and coated in a rich, smoky sauce. They’re slow-roasted in the oven, then finished on the grill for that perfect caramelized crust. Whether it’s a summer cookout or a weekend dinner, these ribs are sure to be a hit.

Ingredients

  • 2 racks of pork baby back ribs (about 4-5 lbs total)

  • 2 tbsp brown sugar

  • 1 tbsp paprika

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp onion powder

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

  • 1/2 tsp chili powder (optional, for heat)

  • 1 cup BBQ sauce (store-bought or homemade)

  • 1 tbsp olive oil (for grill)

Instructions

  • Prep the Ribs:
Remove the thin membrane from the back of the ribs. Pat dry with paper towels.

  • Make the Rub:
In a small bowl, mix brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and chili powder.

  • Season the Ribs:
Rub the spice mix all over both sides of the ribs. Let them sit for 15–30 minutes at room temperature.

  • Bake the Ribs:
Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C). Wrap each rack in aluminum foil and place them on a baking sheet. Bake for 2.5 to 3 hours, or until ribs are tender.

  • Preheat Grill:
Heat your grill to medium-high. Brush the grates with olive oil.

  • Grill & Sauce the Ribs:
Unwrap ribs and place them on the grill. Brush with BBQ sauce and grill for 5–7 minutes per side, basting with more sauce and flipping until the sauce is caramelized.

  • Serve:
Let ribs rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing. Serve with extra BBQ sauce if desired.

Notes

  • You can use spare ribs instead of baby back ribs, just increase bake time by 30 minutes.

  • For smoky flavor without a grill, broil the ribs in the oven for 5 minutes after baking.

  • Use your favorite BBQ sauce—sweet, smoky, or spicy.
