Description

Mini Cheese Ball Bites are delightful, bite-sized snacks perfect for parties or gatherings. These creamy cheese balls combine sharp cheddar, Parmesan, and cream cheese with flavorful spices, then are rolled in coatings like chopped nuts, fresh herbs, and crispy bacon for a crunchy contrast. Ready to serve after chilling, they’re ideal paired with crackers, bread, or vegetables.

Ingredients

Scale

Cheese Mixture

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp sour cream
  • 1 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper

Coatings

  • 2–3 tbsp chopped fresh herbs (parsley, chives, or dill)
  • 1 cup finely chopped nuts (pecans, walnuts, or almonds)
  • 1 cup chopped fresh herbs (optional)
  • ½ cup crispy bacon bits (optional)

Instructions

  1. Mix the cheese mixture: In a large bowl, combine cream cheese, shredded sharp cheddar, Parmesan, sour cream, mayonnaise, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  2. Chill the mixture: Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the cheese mixture for 30 minutes to firm up, making it easier to shape.
  3. Form cheese balls: Using a tablespoon, scoop portions of the chilled cheese mixture and roll each portion between your palms to form smooth balls.
  4. Prepare coatings: Divide the chopped nuts, fresh herbs, and crispy bacon bits into separate shallow bowls to use as coatings for the cheese balls.
  5. Coat the cheese balls: Roll each cheese ball in your choice of coatings, pressing gently to ensure the nuts, herbs, or bacon bits stick well to the surface.
  6. Chill before serving: Place the coated cheese balls on a serving platter or tray and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to set the shape and flavors.
  7. Serve: Present the mini cheese balls chilled alongside crackers, slices of bread, or fresh vegetables as a tasty appetizer.

Notes

  • For best results, ensure the cream cheese is softened to room temperature before mixing.
  • Customize coatings based on preference; you can mix coatings or stick to one type per cheese ball.
  • Make these cheese ball bites a day ahead to allow flavors to meld, but add fresh herbs just before serving if preferred.
  • Store leftovers tightly covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
