Ingredients
Scale
Dry Ingredients
- 1 cup sweet rice flour (mochiko)
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon matcha powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Add-ins
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips or chopped chocolate
- Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease an 8×8-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper to ensure easy removal of the brownies.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the sweet rice flour, granulated sugar, matcha powder, and salt until well combined, ensuring no lumps remain.
- Combine Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the whole milk, melted and cooled unsalted butter, egg, and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth and homogenous.
- Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures: Pour the wet ingredient mixture into the bowl with the dry ingredients. Stir gently but thoroughly until the batter is fully combined and smooth, without any streaks of flour.
- Fold in Chocolate: Gently fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips or chopped chocolate, evenly distributing them throughout the batter for bursts of chocolate in every bite.
- Transfer and Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, smoothing the surface evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the edges are set and the center is slightly springy. Test doneness by inserting a toothpick; it should come out mostly clean with just a few moist crumbs.
- Cool and Serve: Allow the brochi to cool completely in the pan before cutting into 16 squares. Optionally, dust with powdered sugar before serving to add a touch of sweetness and an elegant finish.
Notes
- For a fudgier texture, remove the brownies slightly underbaked and chill them thoroughly before slicing.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
- For longer storage, refrigerate the brownies to maintain freshness.
- Ensure the butter is slightly cooled before mixing to prevent cooking the egg prematurely.
