Description
A refreshing, crowd‑pleasing classic margarita blend scaled up for serving a large group.
Ingredients
- 6 cups (1.5 L) silver tequila (100% agave)
- 4 cups (960 ml) freshly squeezed lime juice (about 32 limes)
- 3 cups (720 ml) orange liqueur (Cointreau or quality triple sec)
- 11 fl oz (325 ml) agave syrup (or simple syrup)
- 2 oranges, sliced for garnish
- 2 limes, sliced for garnish
- Coarse salt or kosher salt for rimming glasses (optional)
Instructions
- Rim glasses (optional): rub lime wedge around glass rims, dip in coarse salt; set aside.
- In a clean 1-gallon jug or pitcher, combine tequila, lime juice, orange liqueur, and agave syrup.
- Secure lid and shake or stir until fully mixed.
- Add halved orange and lime slices to the jug.
- Refrigerate for at least 1 hour (up to 24 hours) to chill and develop flavor.
- Before serving, give jug a quick stir or shake to recombine.
- Serve over ice in rimmed glasses.
- Optional: top each glass with club soda or sparkling water for a lighter version.
Notes
- Mix can be made 24–48 hours ahead—store refrigerated (fruit freshness best within 24 hours).
- Stir or shake before serving to redistribute fruit slices.
- Adjust sweetness with simple syrup or honey instead of agave if preferred.
- Top with soda for a lighter “Tommy’s‐style” margarita.
- Make it non‑alcoholic by replacing tequila and liqueur with limeade and orange juice.
