Description

A savory-sweet breakfast sandwich featuring flaky croissants filled with eggs, cheese, and a delicious maple mustard sauce. Perfect for a gourmet morning treat.

Ingredients

  • 4 croissants, halved
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 4 slices cooked bacon or ham (optional)
  • 4 slices cheddar or Swiss cheese
  • 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix Dijon mustard and maple syrup to create the maple mustard sauce. Set aside.
  2. Heat butter in a nonstick skillet over medium heat. Crack eggs into the skillet, season with salt and pepper, and cook to your desired doneness (fried or scrambled).
  3. While eggs are cooking, slice croissants in half and lightly toast them if desired.
  4. Spread the maple mustard sauce on the bottom half of each croissant.
  5. Place a slice of cheese on each bottom half, followed by a cooked egg, bacon or ham (if using), and then the croissant top.
  6. Serve warm and enjoy immediately.

Notes

  • Swap in avocado or spinach for a vegetarian option.
  • Use a variety of cheeses like pepper jack or gouda for a flavor twist.
  • Make the maple mustard sauce in advance and refrigerate for up to a week.
