A savory-sweet breakfast sandwich featuring flaky croissants filled with eggs, cheese, and a delicious maple mustard sauce. Perfect for a gourmet morning treat.
Ingredients
- 4 croissants, halved
- 4 large eggs
- 1 tbsp butter
- 4 slices cooked bacon or ham (optional)
- 4 slices cheddar or Swiss cheese
- 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 1 tbsp maple syrup
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix Dijon mustard and maple syrup to create the maple mustard sauce. Set aside.
- Heat butter in a nonstick skillet over medium heat. Crack eggs into the skillet, season with salt and pepper, and cook to your desired doneness (fried or scrambled).
- While eggs are cooking, slice croissants in half and lightly toast them if desired.
- Spread the maple mustard sauce on the bottom half of each croissant.
- Place a slice of cheese on each bottom half, followed by a cooked egg, bacon or ham (if using), and then the croissant top.
- Serve warm and enjoy immediately.
