Learn how to make incredibly juicy and flavorful stovetop chicken breasts with this easy recipe. Perfect for a quick and delicious meal!
Ingredients
Chicken:
- 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 6–8 oz each)
Seasoning:
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp paprika (smoked or sweet)
- ½ tsp dried basil or Italian seasoning
For Cooking:
- 1–2 tbsp high-heat oil (vegetable, canola, or avocado)
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter
Instructions
- Pound the chicken breasts: To an even thickness of about ¾–1 inch to ensure they cook evenly.
- Season the chicken: Pat dry with paper towels and season both sides with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and basil or Italian seasoning.
- Heat oil: In a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
- Sear the chicken: Undisturbed for 5–7 minutes until golden brown on the first side.
- Flip and cook: Reduce heat to medium-low, add butter, and baste the chicken. Cover and cook for 7–10 minutes until internal temperature reaches 165°F.
- Rest and slice: Remove from heat, rest on a cutting board tented with foil for 5 minutes. Slice and serve, spooning pan juices over the top.
Notes
- For extra juicy chicken, avoid opening the lid during cooking to retain steam.
- A quick mayonnaise marinade can help lock in moisture and create a flavorful crust.
- Use a meat thermometer to avoid overcooking—pull the chicken at 160°F and let it rest to reach 165°F.
