Description

This Hot Cocoa Dip is a creamy, fluffy dessert dip that combines the classic flavors of hot cocoa and marshmallows. It features a smooth cream cheese base mixed with marshmallow creme and hot cocoa powder, folded together with whipped topping and mini chocolate chips. Perfect for dipping graham crackers, cookies, fruit, or pretzels, it’s an easy, no-cook treat ideal for holidays or any cozy gathering.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 (7-ounce) jar marshmallow creme
  • 1 cup whipped topping (such as Cool Whip)
  • ½ cup hot cocoa mix (powdered, not prepared)
  • ¼ cup mini chocolate chips

Toppings & Dippers

  • Mini marshmallows (for topping)
  • Crushed graham crackers (for topping or dipping)
  • Extra mini chocolate chips (optional, for topping or dipping)
  • Graham crackers, cookies, fruit, or pretzels (for dipping)

Instructions

  1. Beat Cream Cheese: In a medium mixing bowl, use an electric mixer to beat the softened cream cheese until it becomes smooth and creamy, removing any lumps.
  2. Add Marshmallow Creme & Cocoa Mix: Add the marshmallow creme and powdered hot cocoa mix to the bowl, then beat again until fully combined and the mixture is fluffy.
  3. Fold in Whipped Topping: Gently fold the whipped topping into the mixture using a spatula until the dip is light and creamy in texture.
  4. Stir in Chocolate Chips: Carefully stir in the mini chocolate chips, distributing them evenly throughout the dip without deflating it.
  5. Transfer & Top: Move the dip into a serving bowl and sprinkle with mini marshmallows, crushed graham crackers, and extra chocolate chips if you like for added texture and flavor.
  6. Chill & Serve: Chill the dip in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes before serving for best texture, or enjoy immediately. Serve with graham crackers, cookies, fruit, or pretzels for dipping.

Notes

  • For a richer chocolate flavor, substitute chocolate-flavored whipped topping or add a tablespoon of unsweetened cocoa powder to the mix.
  • You can prepare this dip up to one day ahead. Store it covered in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
  • Adjust toppings and dippers according to preference to create a customized dessert platter.
