Description

Honey Glazed Carrots are a simple and delicious side dish featuring tender carrots coated in a sweet, buttery glaze. Perfect for holidays or weeknight dinners, this recipe balances the natural sweetness of carrots with honey, butter, and a touch of cinnamon or thyme for extra flavor. Ready in just 20 minutes, it’s an easy way to bring a vibrant and tasty vegetable to the table.

Ingredients

Scale

Carrots

  • 1½ pounds carrots, peeled and cut into sticks or rounds

Glaze

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar (optional, for extra sweetness)
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon or fresh thyme (optional, for flavor)

Garnish

  • Chopped parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Boil Carrots: Bring a pot of salted water to a boil, then add the peeled and cut carrots. Cook for 5–6 minutes until they are just tender but still firm enough to hold their shape. Drain the carrots well to remove all water.
  2. Prepare Glaze: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter completely. Stir in the honey, brown sugar (if using), salt, black pepper, and cinnamon or fresh thyme if desired. Mix well to combine and warm the glaze.
  3. Glaze Carrots: Add the drained carrots to the skillet and toss them in the glaze to coat evenly. Continue cooking over medium heat for 4–5 minutes, stirring frequently, until the glaze thickens and the carrots become glossy and caramelized.
  4. Serve: Remove the skillet from heat, sprinkle the glazed carrots with chopped parsley for a fresh finish, and serve warm as a flavorful side dish.

Notes

  • You can substitute baby carrots for convenience.
  • For a deeper flavor, roast the carrots instead of boiling: toss with the glaze and bake at 400°F (200°C) for 20–25 minutes until tender and caramelized.
  • This dish makes a perfect addition to holiday meals or weeknight dinners.
