- 2 tbsp plain yogurt
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1/2 cup warm milk
- 1/4 cup warm water
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp chopped fresh cilantro (optional)
- 2 tbsp melted butter or ghee (for brushing)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and baking soda.
- Add yogurt and oil, then gradually mix in warm milk and water to form a soft dough.

- Roll out each ball into an oval or round shape, about 1/4 inch thick.
- Sprinkle minced garlic and press it gently into the surface of the dough.
- Heat a skillet or tawa over medium-high heat. Place the naan garlic-side up on the hot skillet.
- Cook for 1–2 minutes until bubbles form, then flip and cook the garlic side for another 1–2 minutes until golden brown spots appear.
- Brush with melted butter or ghee and sprinkle with chopped cilantro if desired.
- Serve hot with your favorite curry or enjoy on its own.
Notes
- Resting the dough is crucial for soft naan.
- You can cook naan in the oven under a broiler for a charred effect.
- For vegan version, use plant-based yogurt and oil instead of dairy products.
