These homemade cheesy breadsticks are a quick and delicious appetizer or snack made with pizza dough, garlic butter, and a blend of mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses. Perfectly baked until golden and bubbly, they’re great served with marinara sauce or garlic butter for dipping.
Ingredients
Scale
For the Breadsticks
- 1 pound pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
Optional Dipping Sauce
- Marinara sauce or garlic butter for dipping
Instructions
- Prepare the Dough: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it. Roll out the pizza dough into a rectangle or circle about ¼-inch thick, then transfer it to the prepared baking sheet.
- Season the Dough: Brush the melted butter evenly over the surface of the dough, then sprinkle the garlic powder evenly on top to infuse the breadsticks with savory flavor.
- Add the Cheese and Seasoning: Spread the shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the buttered dough. Finally, sprinkle the Italian seasoning over the cheese for added herbaceous notes.
- Bake the Breadsticks: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges of the breadsticks are golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbling.
- Slice and Serve: Remove from the oven and let the breadsticks cool for 2-3 minutes. Slice into strips and serve warm with marinara sauce or garlic butter for dipping.
Notes
- If you prefer crispier breadsticks, bake for an additional 1-2 minutes but watch carefully to prevent burning.
- For extra garlic flavor, add minced fresh garlic to the melted butter before brushing it on the dough.
- Use whole wheat or gluten-free pizza dough to accommodate dietary preferences.
- Store any leftover breadsticks wrapped in foil at room temperature for up to 2 days; reheat before serving.
