Description

Classic ground beef tacos made with seasoned beef, served in crispy taco shells and topped with fresh vegetables and cheese.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce
  • 8 crispy taco shells
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1/4 cup sour cream (optional)
  • 1 lime, cut into wedges

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onion and cook until softened, about 3 minutes.
  2. Add minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
  3. Add ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spoon. Cook until browned, about 6-8 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  4. Stir in chili powder, cumin, paprika, oregano, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  5. Pour in tomato sauce and stir to combine. Simmer for 5 minutes to blend flavors.
  6. Warm taco shells according to package instructions.
  7. Spoon the seasoned beef into each taco shell.
  8. Top with lettuce, cheese, tomatoes, cilantro, and a dollop of sour cream if using.
  9. Serve immediately with lime wedges on the side.

Notes

  • Customize toppings with avocado, jalapeños, or pickled onions.
  • Use ground turkey or chicken as an alternative to beef.
  • Double the batch for easy meal prep or freezing.
