Description

This classic green bean casserole is a holiday favorite that’s creamy, comforting, and topped with crispy fried onions. It’s easy to make and perfect as a side dish for Thanksgiving, Christmas, or any cozy family dinner.

Ingredients

  • 1 (10.5 oz) can cream of mushroom soup

  • 3/4 cup milk

  • 1/8 tsp black pepper

  • 4 cups cooked green beans (or 2 cans, drained)

  • 1 1/3 cups crispy fried onions, divided

  • Salt to taste (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  • In a mixing bowl, stir together the cream of mushroom soup, milk, black pepper, and half of the crispy fried onions.

  • Add the green beans and mix until evenly coated.

  • Pour the mixture into a 9×9-inch baking dish.

  • Bake for 25 minutes, uncovered.

  • Remove from the oven, sprinkle the remaining crispy fried onions on top, and bake for another 5-10 minutes, until golden and bubbly.

  • Let it rest for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • You can use fresh or frozen green beans instead of canned—just blanch or steam them first.

  • Add shredded cheddar cheese to the mix for a cheesier version.

  • To make it vegetarian, use a vegetarian cream of mushroom soup.
