Description
Crispy and spicy fried jalapeños make the perfect appetizer or snack with a bold kick and a satisfying crunch.
Ingredients
- 10 fresh jalapeños, sliced into rings
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cornmeal
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup buttermilk
- Vegetable oil, for frying
Instructions
- Slice the jalapeños into rings and remove seeds if desired for less heat.
- In a bowl, mix flour, cornmeal, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Pour the buttermilk into a separate bowl.
- Dip the jalapeño rings into the buttermilk, then dredge in the flour mixture to coat evenly.
- Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet or fryer to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the jalapeño rings in batches for 2–3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
- Wear gloves while handling jalapeños to avoid skin irritation.
- For extra crispiness, double-dip in buttermilk and flour mixture.
- Pairs well with ranch or spicy mayo dips.
