Description

Crispy and spicy fried jalapeños make the perfect appetizer or snack with a bold kick and a satisfying crunch.

Ingredients

  • 10 fresh jalapeños, sliced into rings
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornmeal
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions

  1. Slice the jalapeños into rings and remove seeds if desired for less heat.
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, cornmeal, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Pour the buttermilk into a separate bowl.
  4. Dip the jalapeño rings into the buttermilk, then dredge in the flour mixture to coat evenly.
  5. Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet or fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Fry the jalapeño rings in batches for 2–3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  8. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Wear gloves while handling jalapeños to avoid skin irritation.
  • For extra crispiness, double-dip in buttermilk and flour mixture.
  • Pairs well with ranch or spicy mayo dips.
