A delightful dessert featuring crispy fried coating around cold, creamy ice cream, offering a unique combination of textures and temperatures.
Ingredients
- 4 scoops vanilla ice cream
- 2 cups crushed cornflakes
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 cup milk
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Whipped cream, for garnish (optional)
- Honey or chocolate syrup, for drizzle (optional)
- Cherries, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Scoop ice cream into firm balls and freeze for at least 1 hour until solid.
- In a bowl, combine crushed cornflakes, cinnamon, and sugar.
- In another bowl, whisk eggs and milk together.
- Roll each ice cream ball in the cornflake mixture, then dip in the egg mixture, and coat again with cornflakes for a double layer. Freeze for at least 2 hours or until very firm.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or heavy-bottomed pan to 375°F (190°C).
- Fry each ice cream ball for 10–15 seconds until golden brown. Remove and drain quickly on paper towels.
- Serve immediately, topped with whipped cream, syrup, and cherries if desired.
Notes
- Ensure ice cream balls are fully frozen before frying to prevent melting.
- You can use cinnamon-flavored cereal for extra flavor.
- Alternative ice cream flavors like chocolate or strawberry can be used.
