Description

A delightful dessert featuring crispy fried coating around cold, creamy ice cream, offering a unique combination of textures and temperatures.

Ingredients

  • 4 scoops vanilla ice cream
  • 2 cups crushed cornflakes
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Whipped cream, for garnish (optional)
  • Honey or chocolate syrup, for drizzle (optional)
  • Cherries, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Scoop ice cream into firm balls and freeze for at least 1 hour until solid.
  2. In a bowl, combine crushed cornflakes, cinnamon, and sugar.
  3. In another bowl, whisk eggs and milk together.
  4. Roll each ice cream ball in the cornflake mixture, then dip in the egg mixture, and coat again with cornflakes for a double layer. Freeze for at least 2 hours or until very firm.
  5. Heat oil in a deep fryer or heavy-bottomed pan to 375°F (190°C).
  6. Fry each ice cream ball for 10–15 seconds until golden brown. Remove and drain quickly on paper towels.
  7. Serve immediately, topped with whipped cream, syrup, and cherries if desired.

Notes

  • Ensure ice cream balls are fully frozen before frying to prevent melting.
  • You can use cinnamon-flavored cereal for extra flavor.
  • Alternative ice cream flavors like chocolate or strawberry can be used.
