Ingredients
Scale
Biscuits and Filling
- 1 can (16 oz) refrigerated biscuit dough (8 count)
- ½ pound deli roast beef, thinly sliced
- 1 cup shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley (optional)
Au Jus Dipping Sauce
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ cups beef broth, low sodium
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Prepare the Oven and Muffin Tin: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a muffin tin to prevent sticking.
- Form Biscuit Wells: Flatten each biscuit dough piece and press it firmly into each muffin cup, creating a well shape to hold the filling.
- Add Filling: Place a few slices of thinly sliced roast beef into each biscuit well, then sprinkle with shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese. Optionally, fold the biscuit edges slightly over the filling for a rustic look.
- Brush with Butter Mixture: Combine the melted butter with garlic powder and dried parsley (if using) and brush this mixture over the tops of the biscuit cups to enhance flavor and promote browning.
- Bake: Place the muffin tin in the preheated oven and bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and fully cooked through. Allow to cool slightly in the pan before removing.
- Make Au Jus Sauce: In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly to make a roux. Slowly whisk in beef broth, making sure no lumps form. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, and season lightly with salt and pepper. Simmer the sauce for 3 to 4 minutes until it slightly thickens. For a smoother sauce, strain before serving.
- Serve: Serve the warm French Dip Biscuits alongside the au jus dipping sauce for dunking. Enjoy your savory, cheesy biscuits as an appetizer or main dish.
Notes
- You can substitute deli roast beef with leftover roast beef or shaved steak for a heartier filling.
- Add sautéed onions or a dollop of horseradish sauce inside the biscuit cups for extra flavor complexity.
