Description

This easy lasagna recipe is a comforting classic made with layers of rich meat sauce, creamy ricotta, and melted mozzarella. It’s perfect for family dinners and can be prepared ahead of time.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (24 oz) jar marinara sauce
  • 9 lasagna noodles
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, cook ground beef and chopped onion over medium heat until browned. Add garlic and cook for 1 more minute.
  3. Stir in marinara sauce, salt, pepper, and basil. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  4. Meanwhile, cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  5. In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese with egg until well combined.
  6. In a 9×13 inch baking dish, spread a layer of meat sauce. Top with 3 noodles, then layer with ricotta mixture, mozzarella, and Parmesan. Repeat layers, ending with sauce and cheese on top.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 20 minutes or until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  8. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Use no-boil noodles to save time.
  • Make ahead and refrigerate overnight before baking.
  • Substitute ground turkey for a leaner version.
