Description

Celebrate your pup’s big day with this homemade doggy birthday cake! Made with dog-friendly ingredients like peanut butter, pumpkin, and oats, it’s a treat you can feel good about serving. This simple recipe bakes up a soft, moist cake your dog will absolutely love.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup pumpkin puree (unsweetened)

  • 1/4 cup natural peanut butter (xylitol-free)

  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil or melted coconut oil

  • 2 eggs

  • 1/3 cup honey (optional)

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour

  • 1/2 cup rolled oats

  • 1 tsp baking soda

Optional Dog-Friendly Frosting:

  • 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt

  • 1/4 cup natural peanut butter (xylitol-free)


Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 6-inch cake pan or line with parchment paper.

  • In a large bowl, mix together pumpkin, peanut butter, oil, eggs, and honey (if using).

  • Stir in flour, oats, and baking soda until fully combined.

  • Pour batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.

  • Bake for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  • Let the cake cool completely in the pan before removing.

  • For the frosting, mix Greek yogurt and peanut butter until smooth. Spread over cooled cake.

 

  • Decorate with dog treats or small banana slices if you’d like!


Notes

  • Always use xylitol-free peanut butter (xylitol is toxic to dogs).

  • This cake is meant as a treat and should be served in moderation.

  • Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 5 days or freeze slices for longer storage.
