Description
Disney Churro Bites are crispy, golden donut-like treats inspired by the classic theme park favorite. Made by frying a cinnamon-infused dough and coating it in cinnamon sugar, these bite-sized churros are perfect for dessert or snack time. Served warm and optionally paired with chocolate or caramel dipping sauce, they deliver a sweet, cinnamon-spiced crunch in every bite.
Ingredients
Scale
Churro Dough
- 1 cup water
- 8 tablespoons (1 stick) unsalted butter
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 3 large eggs
- Vegetable oil for frying
Cinnamon Sugar Coating
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Optional for Dipping
- Chocolate sauce or caramel sauce
Instructions
- Prepare the Dough: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine water, butter, salt, and cinnamon. Bring the mixture to a rolling boil, then reduce the heat to low to maintain a gentle simmer.
- Add the Flour: Add all the flour at once to the saucepan and stir vigorously with a wooden spoon. Continue stirring until the mixture forms a smooth ball of dough that pulls away from the sides of the pan. Remove from heat and let it cool for 5 to 10 minutes.
- Incorporate the Eggs: Add the eggs one at a time to the cooled dough, beating thoroughly after each addition. Continue until the dough is smooth, thick, and fully combined.
- Heat the Oil: Pour about 2 inches of vegetable oil into a deep skillet or heavy saucepan and heat to 350°F (175°C), using a thermometer to ensure the correct temperature for frying.
- Pipe and Fry the Churro Bites: Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip. Pipe 1-inch lengths of dough directly into the hot oil, cutting them off with scissors or a knife. Fry the churro bites in batches for 2–3 minutes, turning them once to ensure even golden brown color.
- Drain and Coat: Use a slotted spoon to remove the churro bites from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain. While still warm, immediately toss them in the cinnamon sugar mixture to coat evenly.
- Serve: Serve the churro bites warm, accompanied by optional chocolate or caramel sauce for dipping, if desired.
Notes
- Best served fresh for maximum crispness. If made ahead, reheat in the oven at 350°F for a few minutes to restore crisp texture.
- Be cautious with the hot oil; maintain temperature for best frying results.
- Using a large star piping tip helps give the classic churro ridged texture.
- Adjust cinnamon sugar coating to taste for more or less sweetness and spice.
