Ingredients
Scale
Crust
- 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
Cheese Mixture
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- ¼ cup mayonnaise
- ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
Toppings
- 2–3 medium tomatoes, thinly sliced
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil, plus more for garnish
- Optional: balsamic glaze for drizzling
Instructions
- Prepare the crust: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Unroll the crescent dough and press it firmly into the bottom of a greased 9×13-inch baking pan, making sure to seal any seams to prevent leakage. Bake for 8–10 minutes until the crust is lightly golden. Remove from oven and let cool slightly to set.
- Make the cheese mixture: In a medium bowl, combine softened cream cheese, mayonnaise, shredded mozzarella, grated Parmesan, and garlic powder. Mix thoroughly until smooth and well blended.
- Assemble the squares: Evenly spread the cheese mixture over the cooled crescent roll crust. Arrange the thin tomato slices in a single layer on top of the cheese. Sprinkle the salt, black pepper, and chopped fresh basil evenly over the tomatoes.
- Bake the assembled squares: Return the baking pan to the oven and bake for an additional 10–12 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted, bubbly, and the edges of the crust turn golden brown.
- Garnish and serve: Allow the squares to cool slightly before slicing into 12 pieces. Garnish with extra fresh basil and drizzle with balsamic glaze if desired. Serve warm or at room temperature for the best flavor.
Notes
- Use heirloom or cherry tomatoes for added color and sweetness.
- This dish works great as an appetizer, snack, or a light lunch option.
- The balsamic glaze adds a tangy sweetness but is optional based on preference.
- Make sure to seal the crescent roll seams well to keep the filling from leaking during baking.
