Description

A quick and delicious pasta dish combining the rich flavors of tuna and pesto in a creamy sauce, perfect for weeknight dinners.


Ingredients

  • 8 oz (225 g) pasta (penne or fusilli)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (5 oz/140 g) tuna in oil, drained
  • 1/3 cup basil pesto
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • Fresh basil leaves, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta in salted boiling water according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  3. Add the drained tuna to the skillet and cook for 2 minutes, breaking it into smaller pieces.
  4. Stir in the pesto and heavy cream. Simmer for 3-4 minutes until the sauce is heated through and slightly thickened.
  5. Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss to combine until fully coated in the sauce.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Serve hot, topped with grated Parmesan and fresh basil if desired.

  • You can substitute heavy cream with half-and-half for a lighter version.
