Description
A hearty and comforting one-pan dish made with ground beef, tender orzo pasta, and a rich, creamy sauce. Perfect for a quick and satisfying weeknight dinner.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 cup orzo pasta
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- 2 tbsp chopped parsley (for garnish)
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add diced onion and cook until soft, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if needed.
- Stir in orzo and cook for 1-2 minutes to lightly toast.
- Add beef broth, oregano, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 10-12 minutes or until orzo is tender, stirring occasionally.
- Stir in heavy cream and Parmesan cheese. Cook uncovered for 2-3 more minutes until creamy and thickened.
- Garnish with chopped parsley and serve warm.
Notes
- For a lighter version, substitute half-and-half for heavy cream.
- Use ground turkey or chicken for a leaner protein option.
- Add sautéed mushrooms or spinach for extra veggies.
