Description

A hearty and comforting one-pan dish made with ground beef, tender orzo pasta, and a rich, creamy sauce. Perfect for a quick and satisfying weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 tbsp chopped parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add diced onion and cook until soft, about 3-4 minutes.
  2. Add garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if needed.
  4. Stir in orzo and cook for 1-2 minutes to lightly toast.
  5. Add beef broth, oregano, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Bring to a boil.
  6. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 10-12 minutes or until orzo is tender, stirring occasionally.
  7. Stir in heavy cream and Parmesan cheese. Cook uncovered for 2-3 more minutes until creamy and thickened.
  8. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve warm.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, substitute half-and-half for heavy cream.
  • Use ground turkey or chicken for a leaner protein option.
  • Add sautéed mushrooms or spinach for extra veggies.
