Description

Cowboy Mushrooms are a hearty, savory side dish made with sautéed mushrooms, garlic, and herbs, perfect for pairing with grilled meats or serving over toast.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb cremini or button mushrooms, cleaned and sliced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add chopped onions and cook until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Stir in garlic and cook for another 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Add the sliced mushrooms and cook, stirring occasionally, until they release their moisture and start to brown, about 8-10 minutes.
  5. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, black pepper, and salt.
  6. Continue cooking for 2-3 more minutes until everything is well combined and heated through.
  7. Remove from heat and stir in chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

  • Use a mix of mushroom varieties for added depth of flavor.
  • Can be served as a topping for steak, burgers, or toast.
  • For a spicier version, add a pinch of red pepper flakes.
