Cowboy Mushrooms are a hearty, savory side dish made with sautéed mushrooms, garlic, and herbs, perfect for pairing with grilled meats or serving over toast.
Ingredients
- 1 lb cremini or button mushrooms, cleaned and sliced
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
Instructions
- Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add chopped onions and cook until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Stir in garlic and cook for another 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add the sliced mushrooms and cook, stirring occasionally, until they release their moisture and start to brown, about 8-10 minutes.
- Stir in Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, black pepper, and salt.
- Continue cooking for 2-3 more minutes until everything is well combined and heated through.
- Remove from heat and stir in chopped parsley before serving.
Notes
- Use a mix of mushroom varieties for added depth of flavor.
- Can be served as a topping for steak, burgers, or toast.
- For a spicier version, add a pinch of red pepper flakes.
