Ingredients
Scale
Shrimp and Seasonings
- 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1/2 tsp salt, or to taste
- 1/4 tsp black pepper, or to taste
- 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
Sauce and Garnish
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup white wine or chicken broth
- 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
- Lemon wedges, for serving
Instructions
- Cook the Shrimp: In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes, taking care not to let the garlic brown.
- Add the Shrimp: Add the shrimp to the skillet and season with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if using. Cook the shrimp for about 2-3 minutes on each side until they turn pink and opaque.
- Prepare the Sauce: Pour in the white wine (or chicken broth) and fresh lemon juice. Let the mixture simmer for 2-3 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
- Add the Finishing Touches: Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the shrimp and stir until the cheese melts into the sauce. Remove from heat and stir in the chopped parsley.
- Serve: Transfer the shrimp scampi to a serving dish. Serve immediately with lemon wedges on the side and enjoy!
Notes
- For a non-alcoholic option, use chicken broth instead of white wine.
- Make sure not to overcook the shrimp to prevent them from becoming rubbery.
- You can serve this dish over pasta or with crusty bread to soak up the delicious sauce.
- Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes to change the spice level according to your preference.
- Fresh parsley adds a bright flavor, but you can substitute with dried parsley if needed.
