Ingredients
Scale
Banana Chips
- 2 ripe bananas (but not overly ripe)
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 tablespoon olive oil or melted coconut oil
- Pinch of salt (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Bananas: Peel the bananas and slice them into thin rounds about 1/8 inch thick. Thinner slices will yield crispier chips.
- Mix Cinnamon-Sugar Coating: In a small bowl, combine the granulated sugar, cinnamon, and pinch of salt, setting the mixture aside for later use.
- Coat the Banana Slices: Drizzle the olive oil or melted coconut oil over the banana slices and gently toss to coat them evenly. Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the slices and toss again to ensure each piece is well covered.
- Preheat the Air Fryer: Turn the air fryer on to 350°F (175°C) and let it preheat for 3-5 minutes to ensure even cooking.
- Air Fry the Banana Chips: Arrange the banana slices in a single layer inside the air fryer basket. Depending on the basket size, work in batches to avoid crowding. Air fry them at 350°F (175°C) for 10-12 minutes, shaking the basket halfway to promote even crisping.
- Check for Crispiness: Monitor the chips closely towards the end of the cook time to prevent burning, as they will crisp further when cooled.
- Serve: Once golden and crispy, remove the banana chips from the air fryer and allow to cool slightly before serving to enjoy their full crunchy texture.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, slice bananas as thinly as possible without breaking them.
- You can experiment with different oils such as avocado oil for different flavors.
- Store leftover chips in an airtight container at room temperature to maintain crispness.
- If your air fryer model is small, be sure not to overcrowd the basket for best results.
- Use ripe but firm bananas to avoid mushy chips.
