Ingredients
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 8 oz semi-sweet chocolate, finely chopped
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, room temperature
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Cocoa powder, for coating
- Optional: chopped nuts, shredded coconut, or melted chocolate for coating
Instructions
- Heat the heavy cream in a saucepan over medium heat until it begins to simmer. Do not boil.
- Place the chopped chocolate in a heatproof bowl. Pour the hot cream over the chocolate and let sit for 2–3 minutes.
- Stir the mixture gently until the chocolate is fully melted and smooth.
- Add butter and vanilla extract, stirring until fully incorporated.
- Cover the bowl and refrigerate for 2 hours or until the mixture is firm enough to scoop.
- Using a small spoon or melon baller, scoop out small portions and roll them into balls using your hands.
- Roll the truffles in cocoa powder or your desired coating.
- Store truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
Notes
- You can use dark, milk, or white chocolate depending on your preference.
- Add a splash of liqueur like Baileys or Grand Marnier for a flavor twist.
- Work quickly when shaping truffles to prevent them from melting in your hands.
