Ingredients
Scale
Chili Base
- 2 (15-ounce) cans chili with beans
- 1 (10-ounce) can Rotel diced tomatoes and green chilies, undrained
- 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
Wrapped Hot Dogs
- 1 (8-ounce) can refrigerated crescent roll dough
- 6 beef smoked sausages or hot dogs
Garnish
- Minced fresh parsley (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat and Combine: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a 9×13 inch baking dish, mix together the chili with beans and the undrained Rotel diced tomatoes and green chilies. Stir until well combined. Sprinkle ¾ cup of shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the chili mixture.
- Wrap Hot Dogs: Separate the refrigerated crescent roll dough into 6 individual triangles. Evenly sprinkle the remaining ¾ cup of cheddar cheese onto each triangle. Wrap each triangle around a beef smoked sausage or hot dog, ensuring the ends of the sausage remain exposed.
- Bake: Place the wrapped hot dogs on top of the chili mixture in the prepared baking dish. Bake in the preheated oven for 40 to 45 minutes, or until the crescent rolls are golden brown and fully cooked through.
- Serve: Remove the casserole from the oven and, if desired, garnish with minced fresh parsley. Serve warm and enjoy this hearty and cheesy casserole.
Notes
- You can substitute beef smoked sausages with chicken or turkey sausages for a lighter version.
- Use your favorite brand of chili or make homemade chili for a fresher taste.
- For extra spice, add more diced jalapeños or hot sauce to the chili mixture.
- Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes after baking to allow it to set before serving.
- Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven for best results.
