Description

Mini chicken and waffle sandwiches with crispy fried chicken, fluffy waffles, and a drizzle of maple syrup – perfect for brunch or a fun appetizer.

Ingredients

  • 12 mini Belgian waffles (store-bought or homemade), halved
  • 12 small fried chicken tenders or nuggets
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • ¼ cup pure maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce (optional)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Optional garnishes: chopped chives or bacon bits

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 200°F (95°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. If using store‑bought waffles, halve them and lightly toast until warm and slightly crisp. Brush both sides with melted butter.
  3. Warm the fried chicken tenders in the oven for 5–7 minutes until heated through.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together maple syrup and hot sauce (if using) until combined.
  5. To assemble: place a chicken tender on a waffle bottom half, drizzle a little maple‑hot sauce mixture, then top with another waffle half.
  6. Secure each slider with a toothpick. Repeat for all sliders.
  7. Arrange sliders on the baking sheet and keep in the oven (200°F) until ready to serve, about 5 minutes.
  8. Before serving, optionally sprinkle with chopped chives or bacon bits and offer extra maple syrup on the side.

Notes

  • Make it spicy – toss the chicken in cayenne‑pepper flour before frying or add a few dashes of hot sauce.
  • Swap chicken tenders with mini fried chicken bites or shredded crispy chicken.
  • Waffles can be flavored with cinnamon or cheese for extra flavor.
  • To make ahead: prepare components separately and assemble just before serving so waffles stay crisp.
  • Offer sides like coleslaw, pickles, or fruit for a complete brunch spread.
