Description

Cheesy Taco Sticks are a delicious and easy-to-make family favorite snack combining seasoned ground beef or turkey, melted cheddar cheese, and flaky pizza dough. Baked until golden brown and served with salsa, they make a perfect appetizer or party treat.

Ingredients

Scale

Pizza Dough

  • 1 package refrigerated pizza dough

Filling

  • 1 cup cooked ground beef or turkey
  • 1 tablespoon taco seasoning
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Serving

  • 1/4 cup salsa (for dipping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it is hot and ready for baking the cheesy taco sticks evenly.
  2. Prepare Dough: Roll out the refrigerated pizza dough on a clean surface and cut it into strips of desired width, about 1 to 1.5 inches wide.
  3. Prepare Meat Mixture: In a bowl, mix the cooked ground beef or turkey with the taco seasoning until well combined and flavorful.
  4. Assemble Taco Sticks: Place a spoonful of the seasoned meat mixture along each dough strip and sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese.
  5. Roll and Bake: Carefully roll up each dough strip with its filling inside, sealing the edges slightly. Place the rolls seam-side down on a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes or until the dough is golden brown and cooked through.
  6. Serve: Remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Serve warm with salsa on the side for dipping to enjoy the full taco flavor.

Notes

  • Use either ground beef or turkey based on preference. Fully cook meat before mixing with seasoning.
  • For extra flavor, add diced onions or peppers to the meat mixture.
  • Ensure dough strips are not too thick to allow even baking.
  • Salsa can be substituted with guacamole or sour cream as a dip.
  • Leftover taco sticks can be reheated in the oven to retain crispiness.
