Description
A fun mash‑up of cheeseburgers and tacos—juicy smashed beef patty cooked right on the tortilla, layered with cheese, pickles, lettuce, and special burger sauce.
Ingredients
- 1 lb (450 g) ground beef (80/20)
- Salt & black pepper, to taste
- 6 flour tortillas (6″ size)
- 6 slices cheese (American, cheddar, muenster, or provolone)
- Shredded lettuce, for topping
- Dill pickle chips, for topping
- 1 small white or yellow onion, chopped
- For burger sauce: ½ cup mayonnaise, 1 tbsp yellow mustard, ½ tsp garlic powder, ½ tsp onion powder, 1 tsp paprika, 2 tbsp minced pickles or relish, 1 tbsp pickle juice
Instructions
- In a bowl, whisk together all burger sauce ingredients; set aside.
- Shape ground beef into six loosely packed 2–3 oz balls; season with salt and pepper.
- Heat a flat griddle or heavy skillet over medium‑high heat.
- Place 1 beef ball on the hot surface, then immediately lay a tortilla over it. Press down firmly with a spatula or burger press to flatten.
- Cook for 2–3 minutes until edges are crisp, then flip so tortilla side cooks on griddle.
- Place a cheese slice on the patty side, cook another 2 minutes until cheese melts and tortilla crisps.
- Transfer taco to plate; top with lettuce, pickles, onions, and burger sauce.
- Fold and serve immediately while hot and crispy.
Notes
- Use higher‑fat beef (80/20) for juiciness and crisp.
- Press firmly to get a well‑seared edge and help tortilla stick.
- Have all toppings ready—cooks quickly!
- Swap in gluten‑free tortillas or turkey/plant beef for dietary needs.
