- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup dehydrated minced onion
- 2 tablespoons Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/3 cup shredded parmesan cheese
Cheddar Bay Biscuit Topping
- 1 box Red Lobster Cheddar Bay Biscuit Mix
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (for the biscuit batter)
- 2 cups milk (1.5 cups for biscuit batter + 0.5 cup for green bean mixture)
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- Cheddar Bay seasoning packet (included in biscuit mix box)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the casserole.
- Mix Green Bean Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the thawed green beans, condensed cheddar soup, 1/2 cup milk, dehydrated minced onion, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Stir everything together until well mixed.
- Add Cheeses to Green Beans: Stir in the shredded cheddar and parmesan cheese to the green bean mixture until evenly distributed.
- Prepare Baking Dish: Spray a 9 x 13-inch baking dish with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Fill Baking Dish: Pour the green bean mixture into the prepared dish and spread it out evenly.
- Prepare Biscuit Mix: In a mixing bowl, add the biscuit mix from the box, set aside the included seasoning packet for later.
- Make Biscuit Batter: Add 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese and 1 1/2 cups milk to the biscuit mix. Stir until there are no large lumps and the batter is smooth.
- Top Casserole: Pour the biscuit batter over the green bean mixture in the baking dish, spreading it evenly.
- Bake: Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 50 to 55 minutes until the biscuit topping is golden brown and cooked through.
- Make Butter Topping: While the casserole is baking, combine the melted butter and the Cheddar Bay seasoning packet in a small bowl.
- Brush Butter on Casserole: Once the casserole is baked, remove from the oven and brush the melted butter and seasoning mixture over the biscuit topping for extra flavor.
- Rest and Serve: Allow the casserole to rest for about 5 minutes to let the butter soak in, then serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
- Ensure green beans are fully thawed to avoid excess water in the casserole.
- You can adjust seasoning to taste if preferred less salty or spicy.
- The biscuit topping can be substituted with a homemade garlic biscuit dough if desired.
- Allowing the casserole to rest before serving enhances flavor absorption and texture.
- This recipe works well as a make-ahead dish; assemble and refrigerate before baking.
