Description
A quick and flavorful upgrade to boxed stuffing, combining sautéed aromatics and poultry seasoning with easy mix‑and‑bake convenience.
Ingredients
- 1 medium onion, minced
- 2–3 stalks celery, chopped fine
- 2 tablespoons butter
- ¼ teaspoon poultry seasoning
- 1–2 cups chicken broth (or other broth)
- Hot water (as needed)
- 1 (6 oz) package Stovetop‑style stuffing mix
Instructions
- Sauté the onion and celery in butter until softened.
- Sprinkle with poultry seasoning and mix, then set aside to cool slightly.
- Toss the sautéed mixture into the dry stuffing mix.
- Heat broth, then adjust with hot water to match the liquid called for on the stuffing box.
- Add the broth mixture to the stuffing and stir well.
- For stuffing in turkey, stuff as usual; for a side dish, place in a greased baking dish, cover, and bake at 325 °F for 15–25 minutes.
Notes
- Can be used to stuff a turkey or baked as a casserole-style side dish.
- Seasoning packet from the box is effectively replaced/enhanced by the sautéed aromatics and poultry seasoning.
- Adjust broth amount to follow your stuffing mix’s box directions.
